

Newfoundland, Newfoundland, Newfoundland!
Newfoundland was a dream. I sailed from the Avalon Peninsula to Deer Lake: my trail legs came easy, my nutrition was on point, my pack was light. All the lessons I learned cutting my thru-hiking teeth in the West were paying off.
But after Deer Lake, things started going south. For one (pun!), the trail literally turned south toward Port aux Basques and Cape Breton beyond.
